I'm easing back into the art dragons by revisiting one of the smaller ones. Five years ago(!) I made one of the earliest velvet dragons, a D&D-style silver "shield" dragon. It's the second of the exposed-seam dragons, which kind of represented an evolutionary split. The single-piece ones became the tiny plushies, and the exposed-seam ones became multipart monstrosities like Dragonheart.
Silver Sparkle, #5 in the OOAK series:
compared to the first Shield Dragon, #7:
Both of these were made on a 130x180mm machine, where now I have a 200x360mm machine. I'm going to keep it within the 200mm square hoop, so not a big size change - about 130% the original. It's still going to be the "unibody," not the full art-doll style. I'm going to do some extra hoopings for more fancy stuff though, because I love frills and spines and whatnot, at least when the robot's doing all the precision work.
I'll be saving finished pictures for the newsletter, so be sure to sign up - the November issue comes out Friday.
