Chenille Ornaments

Mon, 30 Sep 2024

I just want you to know that this kind of ornament pre-dates even me.

I happened to run across an image of one of these while looking for something else, and of course immediately fell down the rabbit-hole. You can order bump chenille in bulk on Amazon but, despite having the occasional affiliate link here in the blog, I really don't do that except as a last resort. So: JoAnn carries a package of black and white ones, which I got, and a package of shades of brown, which I didn't. Michael's carries a package of primary colors, which my local store is out of stock on, and a package of tinsel colors, which I got after I made these. The pumpkin person will work well in green, I think.

So far, the Jack-O-Lantern is my favorite. The Skull works too, though I might need to bust out the regular chenille for a more detailed skeleton. The Snowflake might work if I get around to scaling it down, and putting in a vertical bunting (usually "BuntingV" in the advanced product listing, which not everything has yet).

(there is a brief interlude while I go look at scaling down the snowflake, remember that the original file has a weird bug that locks up my desktop, reboot, get sidetracked into deciding whether I should add memory, replace the whole box, or switch from Linux to Windows, and forget to finish typing a Monday blog post and hit "publish" until Tuesday)

Uh, anyway... I'm going to re-do the snowflake (and by extension the full Drifters and Flakes pack). If there are other designs that don't have an appropriately-sized vertical bunting but would make a good ornament head, let me know.
