Sticky-note covers, and more uses for that 4x6 hoop

I've been noodling around with the extended hoop idea, and I'm pretty sure even a 4x4 machine can do notebook covers for books up to A6 size: mini composition books, Field Notes, Moleskine Pocket, Passport, the smallest disc notebooks, you name it. They call the hoop 6.5" but it's really more like 6.75", as far as I can tell. Gonna get a tester with an actual compatible machine to try it out, but I am optimistic.

A 5x7 machine can do that with its own hoop. With a 5x12 hoop, we're talking about clear up to B5, which is your Leuchtturm 1917's and whatnot. And maybe even Happy Planners, but I need to dig out my larger discs and mock one up to be sure.

If you have a Brother HE-120, HE-240, LB6770 PRW, Innov-is 500D, Innov-is 900D, PE-270D, PE-300S, PE-400D, SE-270D, or SE-350 (whew), and you register for the Silver Seams forum, you'll be automatically entered in the drawing for the SA434-compatible hoop, and then you'll be all ready when I come out with those designs. If you don't, sign up anyway... it'll be a nice place once folks show up and start talking (you can select just the embroidery stuff, just the dragon stuff, whatever), and also it'll be the commenting section. (I know I keep repeating this, but Facebook folks never see everything which is why you should use a feed reader.)

Anyway, back to that sticky-note holder. There used to be nifty extra-short mechanical pencils at dollar stores and whatnot, but a search of the Internet indicates they're out of stock everywhere. I don't know if it's supply chain or if they've just fallen out of fashion. The shortest pen I could find was a Zebra which comes in a bunch of colors (caution: JetPens is a dangerous-to-the-wallet place if you like cool pens) and is a little slim for the usual elastic-loop size, but which does work with this size of cover.

This version is a single hooping, so it's 5x7-only. The 4x4 can do it without even needing the extended hoop, but I'm still working on the instructions for that.

The Homer Simpson sticky-note cover, with a tiny pen in the pen-loop closure. Another pen of the same kind is expanded, taking it from under 3.5” long to over 4”, just long enough to comfortably write with.

Homer is available via my Ko-Fi (which you should definitely check out; not all the early-access is paywalled and even if it is, what's a dollar a month?) and will show up here in a couple of weeks.
