Maintenance time

Mon, 21 Oct 2024

I try to spend weekends cleaning up the workroom. It's been less than successfull lately, so I'm doing it today instead.

It's kind of the ADHD story: flitting from project to project, and the "clean up after things" project always gets the least flitting because it lacks novelty. A lot of the theme I've been working with lately is reminding myself that not everything will get done, and I have to prioritize. Which means today I bought a ribbon rack.

No, hear me out.

Ribbon racks are really easy to build, they're just dowels mounted on side rails, and I have dowels in my box of armature bits. So I keep seeing ribbon racks and going "I could make that" and continuing to put ribbons in a shoebox where they unravel and I have to periodically spend the same amount of time as building a ribbon rack would take, re-spooling them.

I knocked the ribbon box over this weekend, so I went "you know what, it would have improved my life greatly if, years ago, I had instead said "I could make that, but I have better things to do," and just spent $12 on a pre-made one. So that's what I did. Better late than never.
