Mini-plushies
Wed, 07 Aug 2024
My current obsession is apparently making tiny versions of older designs. First the bat, now the Kawaii Sunflower.
Okay, that's really not it: it's just that now that I have the ability to easily make a size range of designs, that's what I'm doing. My software will (generally) warn me if satins get too tiny or too large, but as I discussed in the Resizing Plushies article, there's more too it than that. I wasn't sure if the tiny sunflower was still turn-able at that size - the only place to put a reasonably straight turning opening is where it's at, and it's already the entire length of that seam. It is, just barely, though it's really a challenge with the fact that the face has to be a fill at that size.
As I said in the resizing article, the Jumping Spider works in half-size, though some fine-tuning of the embroidery needs done, and I think I'll mix a 1mm minky back with spandex legs when I do official samples.
I'm going to take a break from the sampling because I really really REALLY need to get the video setup done. If pivoting to video (ugh!) doesn't help with my social media numbers, I'm gonna pivot the business to hobby-only status. Which, okay, won't change the blog much except you won't have to listen to me complain about how badly it's doing.
