It's happeninggggg

Mon, 19 Aug 2024

So I guess this thing is happening? It's not a really big change, because I'm still going to do the regular designs for the two tiers, but I'm going to start making the art-doll designs again... and I'm going to sell at least some of the designs as well.

The only real change is one I've been thinking about anyway: I'm going to stop giving away designs outside of the tiers. I'll still have the odd freebie, but the [Early] Access level will become the Charm level, and those designs will be free to members for three months just like the Free Design level.

I don't think, at this point, that the bigger designs will be a monthly/membership thing. I don't know yet how often I'll do a whole design versus a variant versus special wings for an existing design or what-have-you. I'm slightly tempted to see if there's demand for "watch me develop" type things but, uh, then what would I put here in the blog?

(Honestly I think I could charge for it and continue to put it on the blog for free and no one would notice the blog...)

Anyway. The unicorn is pretty much the "this is why I got an embroidery machine" design which makes it funny that I never finished it (I do have a WIP ivory-velvet "real" version... somewhere). See, I decided I needed the machine for the precision, and one of the first things I did was hoop two thicknesses of upholstery velvet directly (I know, right?!) and stitch a pegasus hind leg, go "yessss, it works!" and then settle in to learn how to use the machine properly and...

... just ...

... never got back to the pegasus. Until now. I'm gonna do it! And when I get it finished, I'm gonna publish the design.

(Sorry, this was absolutely a for-my-own-reference photo and I could not manage to hold the phone and the unicorn steady enough to get my cheap phone to focus.)
