I've been seeing a lot of appalled folks posting pictures of JoAnn's holiday aisle, which turned into Halloween a few weeks ago. This... is normal.
See, you have to start getting supplies for handmade gifts in time to make the handmade gifts, which conventional wisdom says is six months in advance. So you start seeing the Christmas stuff by July, which means you start seeing the Halloween stuff in June or even earlier. The fact that fabric/craft stores get their pre-made decor stuff in the same shipments means, well, you get the effect we've got now.
All of which is to say, I'm kinda late with the Jack-o-Lantern Emoji but closer to on-time than I usually am.
