The deadline approaches

Mon, 27 May 2024

Awhile back I resolved that if the Ko-Fi/Patreon numbers didn't go up, I'd end the tiers after June. The numbers haven't gone up (in fact, they went down after the baby dragon) but I think I'm going to give it a reprieve. Sort of.

I'm probably going to turn as many of my current tier members as want to be into testers, which may mean the numbers go to basically-zero for awhile. And that's fine. The newsletter plan is coalescing, as is the software, but I don't think I'll see it have any effect by the end of June.

In the meantime, I'm trying to decide exactly what in-person vending looks like for me. I'm thinking it'll be notebook/planner covers mostly, since I want something that cooperates with my hand situation (so, not a lot of turning and stuffing). I haven't shared those as tier rewards because there is a very very minimal amount you can do in a 4x4 hoop - the Post-It cover is pretty much it. You can make a mini-composition book cover in an SA434 repositionable hoop, and I've got one, but I haven't got a machine that it works on so that'd be a thing for the tester team.

On what may or may not be the plus side, that does probably mean I'll do more conventional designs. It's not that I don't love the Urban Threads dragons, but you see a lot of them at craft shows and I'd like to differentiate myself. I expect to mostly do applique with all the fun novelty cottons I can finally let myself buy, but I'll also do some charms and snaps to go with them, like I did on the Herbie ones:

A mini composition book cover with the Love Bug "53" gumball as the snap closure, and as a charm hanging on the spine

I've just realized the applique notebook trials apparently only made it onto social media and not here, so I guess I'll have to dig those pictures out and/or take some pictures of newer tests.
