Oh hey, somehow I had fallen way behind on Inkscape. I realized this while trying to teach my new apprentice† and realizing that things are way different on his screen than mine.

I should start noting the version used on my tutorials that include screenshots, so I can see when I need to update them. :weary:

At any rate, I've updated my laptop from 1.0.something to 1.3.2, and can I say for the record: I hate change.

Off the bat: Layers and Objects are combined, so for everyday I'll want to click the gear icon and set it to display Layers Only. It'll be useful for "layerizing" imported stitch files (assuming it works like the old Objects > Objects dialog), but otherwise it's too noisy.

I like the color-coded layers, and I've added a bit to my little utility that will go back into existing source files and set the layer color to the thread color. It only affects the SVG, not the stitch files, but it's a nice visual reminder.

† We have a college kid living with us now, and he's college-kid-broke and so has been learning to DIY Christmas gifts. Jumped right in the deep end with zipper pouches, which is an old old freebie around here somewhere.
