Back in black

Wed, 02 Dec 2020

A year or so ago, I stitched a couple of black background designs on felt rather than vinyl because the black vinyl was simply too glossy. It looked better, but I just wasn’t happy with the felt I had, so I mostly shelved those designs. But I got a tip about a kind of vinyl with a matte finish.

The designs pop much better on this. What is it? “Blackboard” fabric. It’s narrower, and thinner but more rigid, than upholstery vinyls. It’s flexible enough to work in the valet trays and notebooks, though I back/line them with regular vinyl.

I had a special request for some of these designs, and while I had the thread set out for the “moonlight” designs I went ahead and did one of all of them. I still have the other lion to do, and the howling wolf set, but then I’ll get back on track with stocking mochi dragons.
