Like the basting boxes, these are simple rectangles in all the sizes of common embroidery machine frames. Instead of making a rectangle around the edges, however, this one fills the frame with a diamond crisscross pattern. Use it to make pre-quilted fabric pieces.
If you use Ink/Stitch, you can also use the included SVGs to easily apply the presets to objects in your own designs. Open the SVG (any size), copy the object, and temporarily paste it into your design. Select the object, then the one you want to fill, and Extensions > Ink/Stitch > Edit > Duplicate Params
to apply the diamond fill. Now you can delete the temporary object.
I've used quilting cotton and lightweight fusible fleece here, but there are many more options:
- Quilt lightweight faux leather over headliner material
- Use 100% cotton threads, fabric, and cotton batting to make insulating fabric for oven mitts, etc.
- Cut batting to size and outer fabrics oversized, then sew quilted pieces together to make a rag quilt.
Note that your stabilizer will get thoroughly sewn in, so you may want to hoop muslin or other light fabric for the backing, and float your batting and top fabric. You can hoop the top fabric, but you may find that hooping it too tightly cuts down on the loft of the result.
Refer to the basting boxes entry if you're not sure what your hoop sizes are in millimeters.

As with other free embroidery patterns here, the SVG file is included in the ZIP package so you can modify it in Inkscape and produce your own variations/sizes/etc.
