These key fobs are modeled after the prominent tags that aircraft parked on the ground have, hanging from covers that keep dust and critters out of critical sensor openings.
They’re pretty simple: a design layer, a running stitch layer, and an E-stitch layer. The default design is “REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT,” but you can replace the text easily. I used TT Director from Ink/Stitch, which is an older Ink/Stitch font and really needs the pull compensation or something fixed, but I decided I liked the slightly informal look.
If you’re making it from two layers of vinyl, you can stop after the running stitch like I did on these, but if you’re using patch material or duck you can use the running stitch as a guide to trim the material down before running the E-stitch as faux merrowing.
The design is 81x140mm, or about 5 1/2 x 3 1/4” - it’ll fit in anything but a 4x4 hoop. (If nudged, I could set it up for an SA434 4x6.5.)
As with other free embroidery patterns here, the SVG file is included in the ZIP package so you can modify it in Inkscape and produce your own variations/sizes/etc.

Turns out Shopify has a massive bug in their downloadables, so I'm moving everything over to Gumroad as fast as I can. The download box will return!
